About Me

I have always been focused on the form and function of things. Growing up I spent a lot of time in my grandparents' wood shop, and at most family meals there would be more napkins used to draw designs for our next project than to clean anything.

When I graduated highschool, I attended Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery. I've always felt that useful things can also be works of art, and bringing my thoughts on the look and feel and sound of guitars to life fit nicely.

Lately my interests lie with the things that people use every day, often without thinking. My goals when designing a website or a product are that it serve its function so well that it is intuitive, but that it is beautiful enough to make a person want to use it again.

I am not an expert in any individual thing. My varied experience in work, education, and my own projects has given me a broad knowledge base and the tools to collaborate. For example, working on my boat has expanded my knowledge of woodworking, welding, 3D printing, casting, plumbing, AC and DC wiring, solar, wind, and battery systems, upholstery, and more. My work running the Makerspace at Roosevelt High School grew my toolkit further into laser cutting, plasma cutting, screenprinting, and even more, but more importantly exercised my communication, teaching, teamwork, and leadership skills. I've become especially adept at learning new software quickly, and assisting others in their use.
